The Principles of the Safe Space
1. Respectful behavior: Every participant has the freedom to be themselves but this does not entitle anyone to behave in a manner that offends others. During the congress days, inappropriate or offensive behavior will not be tolerated.
2. Diversity in Stuttering: We acknowledge the diversity of stuttering and do not dismiss anyone’s stuttering nor their related experiences, feelings and thoughts. We respect each person’s perception of their own speech and the support tools that work best for them. While we may share our own experiences, we do not presume that the same methods for managing stuttering will be effective for everyone. We understand the importance of providing space for others to navigate the challenges of stuttering in their own way.
3. Personal Boundaries: We respect everyone’s personal boundaries. Bringing participants together is one of the great strengths of this event, but it must be balanced with respect for personal space, bodily integrity and privacy. The organizers do not tolerate any form of harassment.
4. Accountability & Responsibility: If anyone has acted inappropriately, they are expected to clarify the situation with the event organizers in an appropriate manner. The organizers have the right to take measures in case the safe space gets violated.
Let us work together to create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone!
