Optional activities
The Friday afternoon program includes optional activities from which participants can choose their preferred one during registration. Please note that only one of the activities is completely free – the others require a fee, which is either paid along with the participation fee or directly during the activity.
Please note that there are minimum and maximum participant numbers for some of the activities and the spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
You can also decide to not participate in these activities and for example spend time exploring Rovaniemi.

Football and yard games
We will play football and other outdoor games together. This is a free activity.
Visit to Santa Claus Village
Santa Claus lives in Rovaniemi! We will visit Santa Claus Village, which is located about 8 km from our conference hotel.
In Santa Claus Village, you can step into an authentic fairy tale. You can meet Santa Claus and his reindeers and cross the magical Arctic Circle every day of the year. Entrance to the Santa Claus Village and meeting Santa Claus is free of charge, but there are many restaurants, cafés, and shopping spots in the area. Find out more here.
This is a self-funded activity, so no extra fee will be charged during registration. Please note that we will take local bus to get there, so please be prepared to pay your own bus trip - and of course there are possibilities to shop or eat in Santa Claus Village.
Culture and science
Do you enjoy visiting museums and appreciating art? Do you want to understand why things are the way they are?
We have something to offer also for you! You can visit either Arktitum (museum), Pilke (science center) or Korundi (house of culture) - or maybe two or three of them? They all are located in the center of Rovaniemi.
At Arktikum you can discover northern nature, cultures and history in unique environment. At Pilke exhibition you will have the opportunity to explore the forest with all your senses and from many different angles. At Korundi you can explore the world of art from a northern perspective. They all are accessible.
This is a self-funded activity, so no extra fee will be charged during registration. Please note that you will have to pay your own entrance ticket(s) on-site.
Large Canoe Paddling
Do you want to go canoeing and see Rovaniemi from a different angle? The large canoe is a big open canoe and it is very stable. The departure for the trip is about a 15-minute walk from the conference hotel. The duration of the trip is approximately 1.5-2 hours. The minimum number of participants is 5, and the maximum number is 21.
The price is €59 per person and it will be charged during registration.
Visit to a reindeer farm
Do you want to see reindeers and visit original Lapland reindeer farm, Sieriporo? You will learn about the life of the reindeer herders and the yearly cycle of the reindeer. If you wish, you will naturally have the opportunity to feed our reindeer. And of course you can enjoy coffee or tea in the peaceful atmosphere of the Finnish country-side.
The visit starts from the conference hotel and it takes about 2,5-3 hours including the transportation time. The visit itself will last about 1,5 hours. The minimum number of participants is 10, and the maximum number is 30.
The price is €65 per person and it will be charged during registration.
